i planted tomatos for the first time this year and i think i planted them to close together.should i just leave them as is for this year or can i move them without killing them?
Is it to late to transplant my tomato plants?
Yes, it should be fine. first give them a good soaking the day before transplanting, at the same time dig the holes where you wish to move your plants to, and fill with water. Following day dig up the plants leaving as much soil as possible around the roots and move them to their new home. this is best done on a cloudy day, shade from hot sun for a couple of days and you will not know the difference.
Reply:Its great to grow tomatoes, but not as easy as it seems, as you're discovering! It depends on when you planted them and how far they are on - if they have started growing fruit I would leave them be, if not, you could try very gently having a look to see how entangled they are.
On the whole I would leave them - keep feeding them weekly with a good fertiliser like Tomorite and water well. I think you will still get good results this year - and next year you'll be an expert!!
Reply:I would leave them be.
