How often should i water my tomato plants?

I live in Central Pennsylvania, and they are planted in potting soil. I have them in the patio which is screened in so the bugs can't get to them. Right now they are only about 4 inches above the dirt,

Go to the nursery section of the hardware store and pick up a water meter. It is about $5.00 and is the best thing since sliced bread. You stick the probe in the soil and it tell instantly if it wet or dry. Takes all the guess work out of watering and will most likely save you water.
Reply:Being that small every day wouldn't hurt none, at least every other day. Keep them moist anyway.
Reply:I left about 2" from the dirt to the top of the pot. When I water them (usually once a week) I just fill the pot to the top. I do have proper drainage in the bottom of my pots so they don't get root rot. Mine are growing great. Already have blooms and 7 tomatoes growing.
Reply:Remember bee's need to get to them to pollinate the flowers, no pollination, no tomatoes. Tomatoes also need a lot of sun. Since they are in a pot water them everyday.
Reply:Once a day with a least 8oz of water
Reply:3x a week, for 5 minutes. Regards-Bob
