I have these bug things on my tomato plants what do i do?

they are not harming my plants but they jump on me or like stick to me if i put my hands in the plant. There are alot. waht do i do? Help me plzzzzzzz

Are they grasshoppers? They'll stick to you. Anyway, regardless even though you don't see any damage yet, grasshoppers will eat your tomato fruit. Get some Sevin Dust (at Walmart, Home depot etc)sprinkle generously over the plant. That will help. Just remember to wash the tomato's well before eating.
Reply:I am wondering if they are green smooth caterpillars? If so, they turn into butterfly's. I have had them on some of my tomato plants and just left them alone because butterfly's are becoming endangered. And the tomato plants attacked almost always rebound back.I usually have enough tomato plants that one or two plants sacrificed to butterfly caterpillars still leaves me with more than enough tomato's to eat during the summer. I really hate to use poison on vegetables. You can try hand picking the little critters off your plants and dropping them in a jar, if you have too many.
Reply:sprey them with dish soap and water.....
Reply:Use Safer brand insecticidal soap. Its non toxic and it will not kill all the beneficial insects like other options can. You'll still want to wash any tomatoes before consuming them because soap doesn't taste very good. :-)
Reply:The best course is to set your hose spray nozzle on "jet" or "power wash" and simply knock them off the plant. Also spray the soil around the area after you knock them off. There are so many pests that can hide out on tomato plants and once the plant begins to set fruit you should stay away from pesticides.
Reply:My grandma's home remedy...she would sprinkle the dishsoap water on the plants after doing the dishes...have done this for years and it really works. ALso, try mixing up a sink of dishsoap water and adding a cap of mouthwash, work every time and is harmless to the plant and you, cheap too!
Reply:Put aluminum foil around the ground near the base of the tomato plants. If it is aphids, the reflected sunlight from the foil will confuse them (they don't know which way is up) and they just simply leave. Works on all plants.
Reply:sprinkle sevin dust on the plants and the bugs will leave. it won't hurt your plants. you ca get it at wal-mart or any hardware store.
Reply:You can try some pesticide sprays or buy a pack of lady bugs and leave it on the plants after watering them in the evening. But without knowing how big your garden is or whether there are any other plants nearby, its hard to tell.

Putting insecticides might not be the best idea because it can be bad for human consumption.
Reply:get some sevin dust and dust them!its not harmful for the plant or you or animals,just the insects!
Reply:sevins dust (5%) sprinkled over the plant should get rid of them. wash the fruit before you eat it.

7.68 makes 48 gallons i put 2 teaspoons and a teaspoon of orange oil to help it stick to the plant in a garden sprayer and spray my flowers ,veggies and grass

Reply:I don't know what kind of bugs you have on your plant...maybe aphids. You can use soapy water and spray it on the plant...just do this as needed and it should get rid of them and be safe for the plant.
