I am growing tomato plants from scratch outside?

It is going to be 34 degrees tonight and I am afraid it is going to get too cold for them. However, I do not want to bring them into a warm house since it might get too warm for them. I am waiting till the later part of March to plant them. It was around 68 degrees in the daytime and I am going to put them in my car to try to protect them. Will they be OK? Should I cover them down? Thank you.

You could try bringing them inside but leaving them in the coolest room of the house, like a laundry room at the far end of the house, whatever you've got that's cool.
Reply:I GROW LOTS OF PLANTS FROM SEED. TOMATOS NEED TO BE WARM. TRY TO BRING THEM INSIDE.
Reply:I would still bring them in side and protect them from the cold. Also keep them watered. Put them where they can get sunlight during part of the day.
Reply:They will die in the car. Cover each plant at night with a plastic bucket or plastic tent. Water them first. The ground warmth should protect them.
Reply:If the plants are small (which they probably are if you just seeded), you absolutely need to keep them from getting too cold or they'll die. Bring them inside. Then you'll need to harden them off again.





Make sure you research your zone to see when it's safe to plant them outside. If they are already planted outside in the ground, cover them with a frost blanket.
